Him Academy Public School (HAPS), in collaboration with SPIC MACAY, proudly presented Kathakali 2024, a grand celebration of Indian classical art and culture. The event, coordinated under the guidance of Mrs. Shelly Thakur and Mrs. Sonika Sharma, featured an enchanting Kathakali performance by the eminent artist Adv. Renjini Suresh, along with her talented troupe.
The troupe included distinguished artists such as Mr. Prem Shankar, Mr. Anuraj, Mr. Sai Kumar (singer), Mr. Akhil (drum player), Mr. Sri Hari Maddalam, and Mr. Suresh Arjunarist (manager and demonstrator of the art form). Adding to the evening’s splendor was an exceptional violin performance by Dr. M. Rajan, a maestro of Indian classical music. His soulful compositions perfectly complemented the Kathakali recital, enriching the audience's experience.
The event was graced by the school’s management and special guests, Dr. Anil Chauhan (retired professor from Government Medical College).
Adv. Renjini Suresh, Kerala’s first female Kathakali guru, captivated the audience with her dynamic storytelling and groundbreaking portrayal of characters, including the legendary Ravanan, in this traditionally male-dominated art form. Her illustrious career has been marked by numerous accolades, such as the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Award (Kendra Sangeet Natak Academy), Kalasagar Award (2017), Thodayam Award, Rajata Kamalam Award, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Award, ORKAS Award, and the Nari Shakti Award, presented by the Honorable Prime Minister of India.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, during which the school’s management expressed heartfelt gratitude to Adv. Renjini Suresh, her troupe, and Dr. M. Rajan for their contributions to preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.
Him Academy Public School remains committed to fostering appreciation for India’s classical arts and inspiring future generations through such transformative events.
