India is on the moon. Her tricolour on the moon has registered its presence for ever.August 23,2023 is a gala day in the history of India when her Space Mission Chandrayaan -3 successfully landed on the southern pole moon surface .The spacecraft entered lunar orbit on 5 August 2023.and touched down the lunar south pole on August 23, 2023 at 18:4 IST (12:33 UTC).India is the only country to reach this part of the moon so far .India became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first one to land near the south pole of the moon. This success heralds the nation“s entry into the elite club of countries that had earlier placed their national flags on the moon (theUSA, RUSSIA AND CHINA ) India“s celestial journey embarked upon its mission long back on August 15,1969 when Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) was formed .It institutioalised space research activities in India. ISRO has played very crucial role in the socio economic development of India. It has also contributed a lot to the engineering and medical industries. This mission showcases ISRO“s expertise on a relatively modest budget. It cost around Rs 615 crore which is almost 30 per cent less than the Chandrayan-2 mission . Chandrayan-3 is India “s successful lunar mission .It is not only a scientific endeavour but also a testament to India“s technological prowess .This mission has three main components; an orbiter, a lander called Vikram and the Pragyan rover .It consists of two modules- the propulsion module(PM)and the lander module (LM).It went into orbit in three stages. The first stage is powered by solid fuel, the second by liquid fuel and the final stage comprises of a cryogenic engine which is powered by liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. Rover instruments detected various elements on the moon“s surface. Artificial Intelligence (A i)is playing a crucial role in this mission. The lunar rover Pragyan is guided by AI as it collected samples and conducted tests . The credit of success of this mission goes to the untiring efforts of entire ISRO team .The Chairman Dr S Somanath is an accomplished aerospace engineer. He played a pivotal role in crafting the design of this launch vehicle Mark 3 or the Bahubali rocket which launched Chandrayan 3 into the orbit. The whole team of ISRO scientists deserve praise and felicitations. Such programmes enhance India“s prestige and ensure her safety and security. Jai Vigyan !
