When we think of liberty, we think of freedom to live as we choose without too many restrictions from government or authority.Man being social in nature can“t ignore the liberty of others. Liberty is good if it does not harm anyone else. If anyone thinks of his own liberty, ignoring the comforts and conveniences of others, it will ultimately be harmful not only to the society but also to the individual. I shall be annoyed if someone thinks of his own liberty by putting me into trouble. In this context everybody“s liberty is nobody“s liberty. Society can be maintained and improved only if everybody helps or takes care of others because of his/ her job or position. Someone must be blamed if something goes wrong because of his /her position in the social setvup. Thus liberty in this sense must be restricted to the onus of responsibilities. If long rope is given, everybody will be concerned with his own affairs and there will be chaos and anarchy. Jungle rule shall prevail and might will be right. Liberty no doubt is important for the growth and development of individual, but at the same time the liberty of others must be protected. If it is so, everybody will be cautious of his own duty towards others. Here lies the sense of responsibility. Liberty here stands for responsibility. So we can say that liberty means Responsibility.
